Electronic Skin
The chief aim with malleable, self-healing, recyclable electronic skin is to improve prosthetics (e.g. better surface control of microbes) and robotics (e.g. better touch sensitivity as in picking up a baby). That is what University of Colorado at Boulder engineers have done with a polymer material having electronic circuits and silver nanoparticles. Embedded sensor report pressure, temperature, humidity and airflow, and this e-skin can be dissolved in ethanol and recycled. MORE
