In case you didn’t know, it is the midstream urine sample that is likely to be the most accurate for diagnosing urinary tract infections. In the UK, research has shown that not taking the “midstream” collection into account resulted in 73% of the samples being unreliable. This may be the same situation in the US. For that reason, a physician with the National Health Service has designed the “Peezy Midstream Collection Device which rejects the often contaminated first 8 to 10 ml of urine, vastly improving the accuracy of the resulting test.
