Augmented and Virtual Reality in Healthcare

Augmented Interactive Reality (AiR)
In augmented reality, an enhanced image is shown over an actual view—e.g. the yellow line for the ten yard marker in television football broadcasts. Virtual reality, by contrast, is an entirely simulated view, like a video game. Both of these altered realities have applications in healthcare, particularly for surgery. This piece describes commercialization in this medical field with examples from Google Glass, Orca Health, Brain Power, Medsight Tech, AccuVein, HoloLens, EchoPixel, Augmedix, Atheer and Aira. Several videos show applications. MORE WITH VIDEOS
