Robotic Hospital Bed Washing

Slowly, hospitals are turning to robotic solutions—tugs for delivering supplies, self-driving wheelchairs and gurneys, automated pharmacies and pathology labs, and now, with this piece, hospital bed washers. At Odense University Hospital in Denmark, researchers are working on self-driving hospital beds that will take themselves to robotic washing stations in the hospital’s basement. The hospital discharges hundreds of patients every day and their beds have to be thoroughly sanitized. A project study shows that robots can save nine full time employees from this task. MORE
