Quantum Dot Biosensors
October 3, 2017 | Terry Sharrer
Quantum dots are silicon semiconductor particles that emit specific light frequencies when electricity or light is applied to them. They are tunable for color, which is why QD televisions are the next level of super high definition sets. In this piece, Australian and Chinese scientists have devised a way of making silicon nanoantennas that can trap individual quantum dots, thereby opening the possibility of capturing single molecules from a liquid biopsy.
