Capturing a Single Cell with a Magnetic Microbot

It may be a while before a surgery takes place within a capillary, but steps toward that possibility are reported in this piece from Duke University and North Carolina State University. Engineers created a microbot that can capture a single cell 4μm in size. External magnets cause the bot, made of metallic cobalt-coated plastic cubes, to close around the cell and, with the current turned off, release it. MORE
