Artificial Blood Vessels for an Infected Tooth

An abscessed tooth calls for a root canal procedure or an extraction. The root canal leaves the tooth in place, but kills the nerves and blood vessels in its pulp. To maintain a living tooth, researchers at the Oregon Health and Science University have used bioprinting to create a scaffold for implanting endothelial cells from blood vessels into the pulp cavity.
