Nanoparticle Nasal Spray

Compared to injecting a drug into the blood stream for treating problems beyond the blood-brain barrier, a nasal spray delivery is simpler and faster—especially if using a technique developed at Washington University of St. Louis. Scientists there have used gold nanoparticles in a nasal spray to transit from the nose to the olfactory bulb to the olfactory cortex. While this has only been done experimentally (using grasshoppers), it suggests a more efficient and effective method for getting medicines into the brain. MORE
