Multiparticulate Drug Dispensing Device
June 27, 2017 | Terry Sharrer
Multiparticulate drugs are those with beads or microspheres containing single or multiple drugs for modified release effects. In this way, a drug can be released over an extended period or in a pulsed manner. With Pfizer and the Institute for Pediatric Innovation, the Gladstone, NJ company, HS Design, won a $50k prize for a multiparticulate drug dispensing device featuring “. . . [a] solid multiparticulate drug reformulation, intended to make medication easier to deliver to children in rural settings within developing nations. The multiparticulate formulation makes the drug easier to store, doesn’t require water for administration, and reduces the strong taste of a drug.” MORE
