Adhesive Sensor Detects Leaking IV Drips

For elders, inserting a needle and cannula into a vein to deliver a liquid medication can be troublesome in several ways if the vein is fragile and leaks the drug into surrounding tissue. To address that problem, engineers in Singapore have designed an adhesive patch that can detect as little as two milliliters escaping from the vein. They also believe that this device can be improved with a wireless reader and cost less than $1 per patch. MORE
