Genomics Using DNA Storage and Retrieval
April 18, 2017 | Terry Sharrer
Computer scientists have long marveled at DNA’s information storage capacity, and consequently have imagined how DNA itself might be used as a computer’s operating system. This piece, which describes work at the New York Genome Center, estimates that a single gram of DNA could store 215 Petabytes—i.e. 215 quadrillion bytes—of data.
