Shooting in Stem Cells with a “Skin Gun”

Remember Cornell University’s “gene gun” in 1987 that used an air pistol to shoot metal particles coated with DNA into onion cells? This piece describes a technology more like a paint spray gun used to coat burn tissue with skin cells in a growth medium. The maker is RenovaCare (New York City). Supposedly, this approach which doesn’t have FDA clearance as yet, can restore a burned over area much faster than the conventional method of growing and apply a skin graft. MORE
