A Soft Robot for a Failing Heart

“Wearing your heart on your sleeve,” referring to people who freely express emotions, actually comes from Shakespeare’s “Othello” in 1604. But now Harvard researchers have designed a sleeve to fit on the heart and keep it pumping. This device uses compressed air to pump, and does not come into contact with blood. Thus far it is awaiting an authorized human clinical trial. MORE
