Lab Grown Lungs Successfully Transplanted in Mice

Using a biodegradable scaffold, bioengineers at the University of Michigan have successfully grown miniature lung tissue from human stem cells and transplanted the organoid into immune suppressed mice where they grew and matured. While growing full size human lungs in this manner would be much more demanding, these mini-lungs are immediately valuable for drug testing. MORE
