New Stent for AAA

Patients suffering from abdominal aortic aneurysms who have short aortic necks represent a significant subset of those needing a stent. For them, a California company has announced a world’s first implant of a product called the “Ovation Alto Abdominal Stent Graft System” in two patients at a hospital in Auckland, NZ. The device (still classified as “investigational”) features conformable O-rings, secured with a polymer and repositioned “near the top of the endograft, providing seal just below the renal arteries.” MORE
