The Reinvented First Aid Kit
July 12, 2016 | Terry Sharrer
The familiar kits for first aid originated in 1888 when Johnson and Johnson manufactured them for railroad workers. They have been essentially the same product until now, when a company, 19 Labs (Menlo Park, CA) introduced a “smart” first aid kit named “GALE.” It combines a wireless table computer enabling online procedure instruction, a push button emergency call, two way video connection, an assortment of digital instruments (always fully charged), and a drawer of bandages and other supplies. Conceivably, the same device could be used for routine home health monitoring. MORE
