“WIWE” Stroke Detector
March 15, 2016 | Terry Sharrer
Combining a single-lead ECG, a pulse oximeter, and a pedometer, a Hungarian company, Sanatmetal Ltd (Eger, Hungary) has developed an electrophysiology monitor which works with a smartphone app. This isn’t a wearable device, but rather one that is hand-held and records measurements from two simultaneous fingertip readers. While the promotional video proposes this would be useful for older people at risk for strokes or heart failure, it may appeal more to performance athletes who want to track their vascular function in training for competition. No mention of the price, or whether the device is currently available. MORE WITH VIDEO
