An Exercise Pill?

“Compound 14” is the name biochemists at the University of Southampton (UK) have given to a molecule that initiates a process in which cells behave as though they are running low on energy. Consequently, they increase oxygen and glucose uptake, mimicking some effects of exercise. This has only been demonstrated in laboratory mice, and long-term safety has not been established, but there may be reason for diabetics and the obese to hope an exercise pill is conceivable. MORE
