Exosomes Induce Self-Healing Heart
October 27, 2015 | Terry Sharrer
Exosomes, first identified in 1987, are vesicles that all cell types release from their plasma membranes to induce changes in other cells. Using this knowledge, scientists at Temple University have found that exosomes released from stem cells have an extraordinary ability to mitigate heart tissue damage, at least in laboratory mice. They believe this could lead to a more promising therapy for heart attack patients than relying directly on stem cells. MORE
