NASA, Medtech, and Mars

At its closest point, Mars and Earth are about 35 million miles apart. Traveling at the rate of the fastest space vehicle, 36,000 mph, it would take 39 days to reach the red planet. On average, though, Earth and Mars are 140 million miles apart, and a space craft carrying a crew, colonists, and supplies could take a year or more to travel that distance, and both along the way and on the planet’s surface, any number of healthcare situations could arise. This could be the ultimate challenge for telemedicine, as well as for electronic devises, robotics, materials science, diagnostics, et al. This piece features some of the challenges med tech faces in a mission to Mars. MORE
