Using Herpes to Kill Skin Cancers

In a multi-institutional study, European cancer researchers used a modified herpes virus, Talimogene Laherparepvec (T-VEC), to infect and destroy inoperable skin cancers. In cases of stage III melanoma, the treatment nearly doubled survivability. This was not the first use of viral therapy for cancer as the piece claims, but it is a dramatic advance against a powerful killer. MORE
