Telepharmacy Service for Hospitals

Two things about telemedicine are clear: the benefits are obvious, and the implementation is slow. This piece describes the former with Pipeline, a software-as-a-service provider in San Francisco that manages several hospital pharmacies from a call center. Mainly, they handle night services, when in-house pharmacies are closed. But the company’s growth may be in showing geographical prescription patterns, different interventions taking place, tracking proper dosages, and monitoring safety issues. Implementation of such “SAAS” business, however, faces conflicting economic interests, some of which are closely guarded in state laws. MORE
