In a controlled laboratory environment, proteins can self-assemble into nano-fibers, but researchers at NYU’s School of Engineering found that incubating the nano-fibers with curcumin (a natural phenol found in the spice turmeric) caused expansion to the micro level. This presents new possibilities for making scaffolding for tissue regeneration and wires for biosensors. MORE
