Dialysis Machine for Newborns

One in five children admitted to intensive care suffer from acute kidney injury and almost as many low birth weight neonates have the same problem.  To address this, Italian researchers announced ‘a miniaturized kidney dialysis machine capable of treating the smallest babies has been invented, and for the first time, it has been used to safely treat a newborn baby with multiple organ failure.
