Williams Intubator
Children are not a mass market for developing medical devices; moreover, pediatrics typically is not a revenue-positive practice for most hospitals. Because of that, groups of pediatricians and engineers have formed around the country to create child-appropriate instruments. This piece describes such a group at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia which is using 3-D printing to custom-make Williams intubators based on CT or MRI measurements of an infant’s or child’s airways. DreamIT Ventures is supporting the entrepreneurial potential of this, and DreamIT has branches in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Austin. MORE
