Kuopio, in central Finland, is a small city with many physically fit university students who are involved in competitive athletics. Not surprisingly, Kuopio’s Myontec Company has developed a wearable sensor in the form of shorts that monitor electrical activity of the quadriceps and hamstrings of both legs when an athlete runs or jumps. The sensor sends the data to an analysis app for Android phones. While this is yet another device for measuring and feedback of body movements for performance athletes, it also can be seen as a monitor for rehabilitation and gait characteristics of elders, though a pair of these e-shorts costs $1,200.
