Raman Spectroscopy for Highly Sensitive Odor Detection
December 3, 2013 | Terry Sharrer
Physicists at the science and technology university, ETH Zurich, and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (Livermore, CA) have developed a highly sensitive odor sensor based on the way odor-conveying molecules scatter fixed frequency light (Raman spectroscopy). The sensor is made of carbon nanotubes, coated with gold particles and the electrical insulator hafnium oxide (which amplifies detection capability). MORE
