Visual Odometry
It takes a lot of technology to simulate a sense of vision. But researchers at Auburn University (Auburn, AL) and Draper Laboratory (Cambridge, MA) have engineered a system of tiny cameras, accelerometers, GPS, and wireless sensors from which artificial intelligence can assemble “tactile clues.” Two cameras produce stereoscopic images that make this visual odometry possible.
