An Assisted Living Robot

We’ve seen several telepresence robots for such things as physician rounding in hospitals and equipment tugs, but Orebro University’s “GiraffPlus” is designed to monitor elders and others who need 24/7 healthcare monitoring at home. Described as “Skype on wheels,’ this robot offers two way voice and video communication between patient and provider with sensors for monitoring vital signs, movement, sleep, and daily living. GiraffPlus is now being tested in fifteen home environments in Sweden, Italy and Spain. MORE
