iRobot’s “Physician Avatar”

iRobot (Bedford, MA) may be better known for its “Roomba” autonomous vacuum cleaner and “Scooba” autonomous floor washer, but it has been working on a physician avatar (autonomous rounding robot) for many years, and recently the FDA approved its “RP-VITA” machine for use in hospitals. A video with this piece shows how the robot works at a patient’s bedside (with nursing assistance) and then moves to the next location autonomously. MORE WITH VIDEO
