Insurer Aetna estimates the average cost of a hospital ER visit for asthma to be around $6,000.  With that in mind, a Boston startup home-energy saving company, WegoWise, Inc., carried out a weatherization project on 31 low-income homes in Baltimore.  Besides seeing an improvement on heating bills, the project brought a 67% reduction in ER visits, particularly for childhood respiratory illnesses.
