It’s a good bet that some smart phones soon will have infrared sensors for taking temperature readings for all sorts of things—from a baby’s fever to an automobile’s pistons firing. If the sensor is sensitive enough it may be able to show unusual vascularization around skin lesions, determine time of ovulation, detect urinary tract infections, and other temperature-linked biological functions.
