Biocompatible, “Transient Electronics”

An integrated silicon chip, encapsulated in silk protein, is what researchers at Tufts University and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign have called “transient electronics.” In practical terms, this could be an implanted temperature monitor to track infection states that doesn’t have to be surgically removed because it dissolves in the body.
