Healing Diabetic Lesions

For the 350 million diabetics who develop foot ulcers (resulting in 10-15 million amputations), news that the plasma protein plasminogen, injected around the wound site, accelerates healing is most welcome. No other medication exists. Diabetes investigators at Umeå University in Sweden have shown plasminogen’s pro inflammatory benefit in animal studies and now will proceed with human trials. They also report a new cell line for producing plasminogen and its effectiveness against MRSA infections. MORE
