Though wearable, implantable and ingestible medical devices appear to be recent technology, they have a long history dating at least to 1899 with the first artificial cardiac pacemaker experiment. What is new, however, is the extent of wireless devices, which this piece describes, with special attention to ZigBee and Bluetooth Low Energy systems. MORE
