“NO-NP” Wound Treatment

Nitric oxide (NO) has several desirable properties in wound healing—an antimicrobial that promotes collagen deposition and new blood vessel formation. Knowing that, researchers at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Bronx, NY) have developed a delivery method—a silicon hydride gel inside a sugar (trehalose)-derived glass nanoparticle (np). The nanoparticle is able to generate, store and deliver the NO in a controlled and sustained manner. MORE
