Chimero, Roku and Hex: Monkeys from Stem Cells

Just when you thought public anxiety over recombinant DNA, cloning, and stem cell technologies might be subsiding, researchers at the Oregon National Primate Research Center in Beaverton have created three male rhesus monkeys-Chimero, Roku and Hex-from embryo-derived stem cells, after they mixed the DNA of from six different individuals and implanted the recombinant embryos in female monkeys. In effect, each monkey has six parents. MORE
