Meet “Elizabeth,” the Simulated Nurse

Researchers at Northeastern University have figured out how to leap the chasm between electronic information exchange and real person social exchange when it comes to patient engagement. They have developed a virtual nurse and exercise coach, named “Elizabeth,” that can do many of the things a home visiting nurse or doctor can do, and, moreover, patients in a trial run preferred “Elizabeth” over an actual person.
