Developing Pediatric Devices in Michigan and Virginia

For all the sensitivity to children’s health, it is surprising that most pediatric hospitals are financially struggling and there has been limited support for developing tools specifically for small bodies. Recognizing that, the US FDA recently awarded a $2.2 m grant to the Michigan Pediatric Device Consortium (Ann Arbor, MI) and the Pediatric Medical Device Institute (Roanoke, VA) to develop pediatric devices, implants, and surgical instruments. Dr. Andre Muelenaer in Virginia and Dr. James Geiger in Michigan are the co-recipients. This piece mentions a few of the projects the funding will support. MORE
