Microarrays for Autoimmune Diagnosis
June 28, 2011 | Terry Sharrer
Researchers at Sweden’s Lund University recently reported on their use of protein microarrays to differentiate systemic lupus erythematosis from systemic sclerosis, and accurately determine the severity of those autoimmune diseases. Some of the serum biomarkers have been identified earlier, but this project identified more that included interleukins, interferon-gamma and complement proteins. For lupus nephritis, the protein profile had 100% sensitivity and 93% specificity. MORE
