E.coli Logic Gates for DNA Sequencing

Aiming to transfer the precision of electronic computing into living systems, researchers at the University of California-San Francisco and Life Technologies Corp (Carlsbad, CA) have engineered two strains of E. coli that represent the “1” and “0” logic gates of computation. Next, their aim is to splice synthesized DNA segments into each strain’s plasmids and thereby provide a matrix for drug and chemical testing. MORE
