A Light-Weight Ventilator

After a year of test runs, CareFusion (San Diego, CA) has begun sales of its 9.5 lb ventilator for critical care patients. Typically, hospital ventilators weigh 70 to 80 lbs and move on a rolling stand. Not only does the light-weight machine make it more maneuverable (between, say, a helicopter, ambulance and hospital locations), it supports an unbroken breathing circuit which can minimize infection risk.
