Passive Mood Assessment
September 14, 2010 | Terry Sharrer
Imagine that one’s mood can be determined from the activity on a phone. For example, someone who is happy might be text messaging often, playing a game in-between making phone calls, and their phone would show a fast gait using the accelerometer. A depressed person would do all the opposite things. By integrating all the various inputs, a growing understanding of socialization and health will be revealed. Then, the phone can dish up media that helps adjust one away from unhealthy activities to more healthy activities (person specific). This story, from the DOE’s Center for Telehealth & Technology (T2), is for a “Mood Tracker.” Also see a reference to “IBreathe,” another T2 innovation for stress reduction. MORE
