AT&T Gets into Telehealth

While being cagy about costs to customers, AT&T is seriously pursuing “remote medical care” product and service development. Among its projected devices are “smart slippers” that have embedded sensors and a transmitter to follow gait steadiness and monitor falls. Like other “explorers” in this field, AT&T sees insurance reimbursement as an obstacle to overcome. Perhaps so, but this is a country where new car buyers fret little over spending $2k for a leather upgrade on seats. MORE
