Remote Monitoring of Lab Equipment
September 1, 2009 | Terry Sharrer
Ortho Clinical Diagnostics recently opened a 24-7 equipment monitoring center in Rochester, NY, which allows continuously tracking of laboratory equipment performance over a wide-even nationwide-area. It relies on proprietary software and secure, two-way, broadband internet connections. The company claims this changes the lab equipment model from “break and fix” to a “predict and maintain.” Ortho already has a second Remote Monitoring Center planned for Strasbourg, France, and expects to have a third somewhere in Asia before long.
