Home Monitoring of Hypertension

Medical News Today recently posted a documercial for Omron Healthcare (a leading manufacturer of home blood pressure monitors, in Bannockburn, IL) making a case for home monitoring which is true enough. Both normotensive and hypertensive people have significant changes in their daily blood pressures which could be monitored by frequent use of cuff devices. But the most important BP readings are those that happen during sleep, and so far no one has figured out a sensored bed mat or other passive device to take those nocturnal values. That remains a challenge to inventors in the field of medical automation. MORE
