Nanoporous Membranes for Implanted Devices
December 2, 2008 | Terry Sharrer
Roger Narayan, associate professor of biomedical engineering in a join NC State/UNC-Chapel Hill program has developed a ceramic membrane that could protect an implanted medical device from protein build up (i.e. an inflammatory response) on the surface of its sensors. By shielding the sensors in this way, the devices may be implanted with little or no rejection response from the body. MORE
